Explore Bunratty Castle with its impressive towers and the exciting Bunratty folk park

Medieval castle & outdoor museum

Of all the many castles we’ve visited, this one was the one we liked most.

Village around the castle

Already a large part of the attraction was the recreation of a village around the castle. The Bunratty folk park.

In every house, we could find beautiful scenery. Offering a glimps into Bunratty’s past. They also offered things like watching his black smith doing his craft or making butter. The latter we sadly were too late for.

Once we had explored the entire village, which already was a blast, we travelled into the castle. It was in the shape of a square with 4 massive Towers on its corners.

We first didn’t think it was that special of a castle, as the hall we were in once we entered it, wasn’t. And most other things we visited in its main structure were also not. The really amazing part were the towers.

Towers of Bunratty Castle

As we climbed up their stairs, we could discover many rooms, ranging from simple little homes at the bottom to the luxuries sometimes even golden of the wealthy. We even find rooms, that for example, had a place for holding animals like cows. And the view from the top of the towers was amazing.
